Inserting Silverlight Content
You’ll begin this module in Expression Web 3, with a page that you’ll be adding Silverlight content into.
First you’ll look at this page with no Silverlight Content in your browser. Press F12 to preview this page in your default browser. When the page appears, you will see the top half is currently empty, you’ll be adding the Silverlight content consisting of a navigation bar and slideshow into this area.
Close the browser and back in Expression Web, click once inside the black section at the top of the half.
Choose Insert > Media > Silverlight. You’ll be asked to select a Silverlight 2 or 3 Xap file. Navigate to the 01_SuperPreview_identifying_layout_problems folder and locate the file Lucerne_navheader.xap select it, then press Open. When asked if you want to overwrite the Silverlight and Javascript files, click Yes. This overview module already has the Silverlight navigation on the other pages, hence the warning.
The Silverlight file has been added to the correct place, however, by default, it is not the correct size. All Silverlight content is first formatted at 640 by 480 and unless your Silverlight file is this size, you should modify the dimensions.
The Silverlight file appears as a blank placeholder, because you cannot see the content until you open the page in the browser. In the bottom-left side of the screen, locate the height and width attributes in the Tag Properties panel and change the height from 480 to 418 by clicking the value and typing the number. Click the width value of 640 and change it to 980. The width and height of the Silverlight placeholder change.
Choose File> Save and then F12 to open the page in the browser, you will now see the animated Silverlight navigation bar as well as the rotating images in the Silverlight slideshow.
